Japanese accounting standards are considered to be one of the best in the world. It is updated periodically and is fashioned after the international accounting standards. The overseer of the Japanese accounting standards is the Director General of the Financial Service Agency (FSA). This position was formerly known as the Minister of Finance. Under the FSA is the Business Accounting Deliberation Council which has a direct hand on these accounting practices. The council is made of professionals, lawyers, financial experts, businessmen, ex-government officers, and selected academes.

Japan has what is locally known as The Big Four which are 4 companies are offering services in accounting and other professional fields. The Big 4 consists of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. However, there are many excellent accounting and payroll firms in Japan who are at par with these large conglomerates. All of them practice the same Japanese accounting standards.
The by-word in these accounting standards is accuracy, transparency, and factual data. Reports should pass audits and provide businesses with the right information on taxes, risk management, HR, and financial reports required by the Japanese government.
Foremost is the ability to instill trust and confidence with nary a doubt about a singe figure in any report at any given time. This is how stringent Japanese accounting procedures are, and the reason why they are respected globally.
If you are planning to start a business in Japan or have received a job offer to work in Japan, you may not have enough time to understand the accounting processes not to mention the language. You will need to touch base with a bilingual accounting firm with strong ties to a good reputation and solid performance. The last thing you want to happen is to get into trouble with the Japanese government over a financial statement or monthly VAT report.

Here are the few top restaurants where one can definitely stop by to have a warm still professional dinner on Christmas eve.
1. The Russian Tea Room. 150 West 57th Street. Enjoy Christmas dinner as the famous Russian Tea Room. They are serving a 4 course dinner on Christmas dinner for $105 per person, and children are $50 each.
2. BLT Market at the Ritz Carlton in Central Park, NYC. The BLT Market is offering a Christmas 3-course prix fixe dinner for $95! There are some cuisine options that will increase the price, so take a look at their website beforehand, if money is an issue. You cannot go wrong here, it is the Ritz.
3. Tocqueville. Located at 1 East 15th Street. Tocqueville serves French-American cuisine and a three course Christmas day meal, $75 for adults and $48 for children under 10. If you prefer celebrating on Christmas Eve, this is your restaurant. They offer a special Christmas Eve dinner as well. Known for their fresh innovative dishes with the world’s best seasonal ingredients, I highly recommend them for your Christmas dinner.
4. The Sea Grill at Rockefeller Center. Not fancy like the others, but you still get to enjoy Rockefeller Center and a popular restaurant!

Cognac is the world’s most prestigious brandy. It was born in the early 1700s along the Charentes River in the vicinity of the town of Cognac in west central France. The raw, low alcohol and acidic wines of the area were transformed by double distillation and by extensive aging in oak into a product that could withstand sea voyages to markets in Northern Europe and across the oceans.

Cognac industry has been promoting Cognac served in a tall glass diluted with mineral water, sparkling water, club soda, or ginger ale. While some cognac enthusiasts prefer drinking cognac plain or neat, in a very specified tulip shaped or balloon shaped glasses at an ideal temperature of 20-22 degrees Celsius (68-71 F), such shape of the glass allows not just a better grip but also constant heat of the hand transferred to the drink which on the other hand helps release the drink’s aroma. Unlike other drinks cognac is supposed to be an aperitif. Just pour an ounce or two of Cognac into in a tall glass. Add some ice cubes. Then fill the glass with mineral water, sparkling water, club soda, or tonic water if you want a dry mixed drink. Ginger ale can be used for a slightly sweeter hint in the drink. Cognac goes pairs up amazingly well with cigars (for that nutty flavour), and can also enjoyed with ice-creams.

Using Ice Ball
Grande Champagne cognacs possess a light, floral flavour, and work well when served over ice in the summer months. For those cognac lovers who preferred sipping it cold, obviously prefer it on the rocks. But the problem emerges when the drink is about to get finished and the damned ice-cubes makes the whole experience watery that might spoil that smoky and nutty flavour of cognac. Well, the solution to this problem is ‘Ice Ball’.
Ice ball is nothing more than spherical chunks of ice. The advantage it carries over the normal ice-cube is that it keeps the drink cold, yet it melts much slower than individual cubes. The reason behind this is its, low surface area of the ice ball that slows the meltdown process. It is preferred to put ice-ball in a lowball glass instead of taper martini glasses so as to make them rest easily inside.
There are basically three methods to make Ice-balls. One is the Japanese technique of carving an ice ball out of a whole chunk of ice using ice-picks and ice mold. The other easier method is using ice-ball mould (made of either plastic or aluminium). The last option is to shell out some decent buck and get an ice-ball maker.

What makes it special, though, is the large tables invite everyone to sit and eat/drink together. Eventually you will find yourself in conversation with people from all over. The bar is really big with expats living in the area as well as locals who pop in for a cheap bite and beer; a great place to meet locals.

2. The Hub Bar: also located in Kyoto, is a fairly relaxed foreigner bar, very little sleaze factor. Beer is about 500Yen which is good value but the same goes for non-alcoholic drinks, which is a rip-off. People love their fried salmon and chips and also their Caesar Salad. They also have Guinness on Tap.

3. Our Boozer: Located in Shizuoka in central Japan, it is one of the busiest bars. Also the Official Sponsor of the Shizuoka Kytes Cricket Club. Remains open every day but Fridays and Saturdays are particularly busy with sometimes standing room only. Karl Emerson opened this new bar on July 19th 2003 for the great pleasure of the foreign community and Japanese alike. The bar provides a service which has been sorely missed until then: a no-frill Pub/Bar with no hassles, very good prices and maximum facilities right in the middle of downtown Shizuoka. Apart of bottled beers from America, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, England (400yen~) and elsewhere, as well as tap beers –Carlsberg (450yen) and Abbots (750yen pint) and other drinks including cocktails, good quality pub grub is also available from 350 yen, including Steak Pie and Chips, Fish and Chips, Mexican and other foreign foods.

4. The Black Sheep: is a famous par in Tokyo. The black sheep is an oasis in Ikebukuro for dinners, drinkers and party goers alike.

5. Bar Why Not? : It is one of the oldest international bars situated in the heart of the famous Motomachi shopping street in Yokohama. The interior décor is simple and natural. Tropical plants, vines, wooden floor, natural wood colored bar counter, tables and chairs. The off orange walls are adorned with posters of famous soccer players like Steven Gerrard of Liverpool football club. The place is known for live broadcast of all major sports on big screen TV. English premier league, Spanish league, NBA, Boxing, etc. The bar also offers wide range of Thai cuisine. While the focus is on Thai dishes like Fried Thai Noodles, Rice with fried basil and beef, Tomyannkun soup, Green curry. The Thai chef also offers you a choice of western and a bit of Chinese too, like Nachos, and Cheese burgers. The international atmosphere of bar why not makes it very welcoming for both foreigners and Japanese alike. Is a good place for the Ex-pat and local Japanese to meet and exchange culture and language. Best known among foreigners for its famous international party every 3rd Saturday of every month.

The application for OLED technology is found in various devices including phones, computer monitors and large TV screens amongst many others. Some of the largest users of the technology include Samsung, Motorola, Nokia and LG amongst others. They use this in most of their devices to help create brighter and above-all crispier images in the devices. The application for OLED technology is solid thin films of organic molecules that use electricity to create light. It is a cost effective way of driving high voltage into the devices. Applications using this type of technology are low on electricity costs making them one of the preferred technologies in this current age and era. The are different providers who are producing OLED products; Konica Molta, for example, has brought out the brand new Symfos, aiming to be the lighting brand for the next generation.

OLED meaning “organic light emitting diode” comes in 2 types. There are active and passive OLED matrix schemes (small molecule and polymer) in use. Their application depends on the appliance at hand. Phone use different types of OLED as the TV monitors. The use of OLED comes with several noted advantages which include lower and better power use because lack of backlight effects, and a faster response due to its high speed. The diodes are also very light in weight. The use of this technology is not new and has been used for the past number of years. It is only with the advent of the cellular phones and the large plasma TV’s that its use has increased drastically.

The OLED technology is taking root and will be the most preferred in all future gadgets because of its effectiveness. Most multi-media applications now use the technology. The technology works by having to organic materials, strategically sandwiched between two conductors namely cathode and anode. Each time current is applied on the two conductors, production of light takes place. OLED is easier to produce and even is usage is quite easy that’s why it is preferred by most of the companies that deal in some of these delicate devices. The whole manufacturing process takes less time and its effectiveness is being seen around. Camera makers like Philips and Kodak can boast of its effectiveness in their products. This is definitely the technology for the future and its use is deemed to increase tremendously.

Choosing for the latest Screen technology is a tough job. There are plenty of choices in market and a lot of factors need to be considered in order to choose the right type of TV screen. For years, the question of which technology reigned supreme has remained unanswered. The flat TV screen industry is filled with thin, more energy-efficient LCDs, backlighting etc. Recently, OLEDs, plasma displays have come up and changed the TV screen technology. In the past couple of years, with the advent of increasingly sophisticated LED backlighting, we finally have a true winner. With its unmatched energy efficiency, LED-based LCD is the best flat-panel HDTV technology. Unfortunately, it’s also generally the most expensive. Let’s try to get down to the basics of the latest TV screen technologies in the market and compare them.

The Basics: What’s the Difference Between LCD, LED, and Plasma?

The three technologies are vastly different; particularly how each the screen is lit. In plasma HDTVs, the phosphors that create the image on the screen light up themselves, and don’t need any backlighting. For LCD HDTVs, however, the liquid crystal screen does not illuminate, requiring a separate light source. That’s where the difference between “regular” LCD screens (also known as CCFL-backlit LCD) and LED-backlit LCD screens (also known as LED-LCD, or just LED screens) come in. Traditional LCD HDTVs use cold cathode fluorescent lights (CCFLs) to illuminate the screen. CCFLs are similar to the fluorescent lights you might see in your lamps and overhead light fixtures. They use a charged gas to produce light. LED-LCD screens, like their name implies, use light emitting diodes (LEDs) to illuminate the display.

Image Quality

The best picture of screen decides which the best of them all is. How good the picture looks is the most vital aspect of any HDTV. Specifically, peak white and black levels determine how detailed a picture can look on a screen.

Poor white levels mean fine details can get washed out in bright scenes, while poor black levels mean shadows swallow up parts of the picture in dark scenes. A very wide gamut from dark to light lets the HDTV show the tiniest details, regardless of how bright or dark the movie gets. In our tests, we measure white and black levels by luminance using a chromameter.

There are at least 3 ways of sending business cards this Christmas: courier, post, or internet and you have to decide which one you plan to use. This decision will play a role in your choice of Christmas business cards.

For instance, if you are using a courier service, you still have a lot of time before it needs to go out. You can also not have to worry about weight and size. If you are using the postal service, good luck. There’s a chance that it won’t get to your clients on time. Using the internet means you can choose to scan your card or get an interactive card.Once this has been settled, it’s time to start writing the Christmas cards. Although it is a religious holiday, not everyone believes in God. If your company policy is firm about religion, follow it. If not, get the go-ahead from your boss or partners about whether or not to even use the word “Christmas” or “holiday.”

Make the extra effort to address each business Christmas card personally so the recipient has half a chance of reading it himself. If you address the company, then the card will probably go into a bin along with a hundred others. By taking the time to address the card with the right spelling and respect, your client or supplier will appreciate the effort and it could be used for company goodwill in the coming year. This means, they will remember you and you may get better deals or more contracts with them.

Avoid stepping over the line and being too familiar. Don’t use the first name unless you are personal friends. In fact, it is better that you have the secretary type out the formal name and you simply cross it out with a pen (one line only) and hand write the name of the person with a small note at the bottom about enjoying the holidays.

New York meetings rooms can be described as a dime a dozen because even coffee shops are being used by business people under the pretext of being a casual, non-confrontational meeting. For the more formal setting, again restaurants are also being used because not everyone plays golf. Major deals are made in many New York restaurants than offices. Here is a selection of the top restaurants around the city that can be included in your list for New York meeting rooms. You can request for a function room or even book the entire place for your event. It would really depend on the purpose of the meeting and the number of people expected to attend.

Michael’s is a place to go to impress your clients, so if you’re looking to close a deal, then court your client here. You will be in the company of great leaders and business people who are all doing the same thing – closing deals. You should know though that the restaurant observes a hierarchy in seating arrangements and table selection. The closer you are to the prime locations, the more impressive you look and people will see you and wonder who you are.

Cipriani has 5 locations around New York City. Cirpriani Wall Street is your power lunch venue with authentic Italian dishes served on terraces overlooking the street. You can’t book this restaurant for large meetings but it is perfect for a few overseas executives interested in seeing a side of New York that’s almost like being in a Hollywood film.

Balthazar in Soho is the perfect choice to meet international business associates who are in the fashion, arts, or creative businesses. The theme is French and the service is impeccable. You can’t say you’ve been to New York for business without sitting down for a meal pow-wow in Balthazar’s.

Other places for international clients would be La Esquina, Le Cirque, the 21 Club, Four Seasons and The Grill Room or any of the function rooms, or in the handful of large venue locations for conferences and meetings for over 50 PAX.

The world over, cars are made for different types of roads. In some parts of the world and due to the changing weather patterns there are Cars that performs well on the snow. Research has shown that for better results while driving in the snow, an all wheel driven car operates better than the other types of cars. This is because snow gets slippery and requires the services of the traction that is provided by the all wheel driven cars. Noted amongst all wheel driven cars are the following Subaru, Mercedes, Audi and Volvo amongst others. The number of Cars that performs well on the snow is varied and the above are just a few.

Another cars that is able to make it with ease on the four wheel driven cars. These have the advantage of added traction. But the above-notwithstanding the most important factor when driving in snow is to have cars that are built with a few extra functions. Some of these extra functions include the likes of low centre of gravity. Some cars are also made with cold weather amenities to withstand such extreme weathers. Even, though the above is important another factor that is usually considered when driving in the snow is the tires. During snow weather roads get slippery and not all types of tires are able to drive on the roads.

Depending on the level of snow, it is sometimes very risky to put the other ordinary cars on the road. The all wheel driven cars like Subaru and its counterparts should not be put on the road without the snow tires. It is usually advisable for those living in areas that experience snowy weather to keep two (2) sets of tires at all given times. This will be able to help save more damage to the car and secondly will save the car occupants incase the weather changes and the car owners have now way of driving out of their cars to safety. Even though the all wheel driven cars have a cost implication, they still remain the best ever cars to use during snowy weather.
